Press Release

Cris Worley Fine Arts is proud to present, Hope, an online exclusive exhibition of oil paintings by Isabelle du Toit.

At the onset of the pandemic and in the midst of her well received show last April, Isabelle du Toit realized more than ever the impact nature was having on humanity — that it can be a source of much healing in uncertain times.

She became obsessed with a project that focuses on hope, hence the show’s title. In this series of oil paintings, all the birds (and one mouse!), that are naturally another color, are painted blue on a stark black background. In Isabelle's mind, the color blue symbolizes serenity, empathy, kindness and hope. Always with the intention to bring greater respect to the natural world, Isabelle’s wish is that this series may inspire hope and joy.

Isabelle du Toit was born in Strasbourg, France and moved to South Africa with her family as a teenager. There, she received a Bachelor of Fine Art in Printmaking from Nelson Mandela University. She moved to Texas in the mid 1990’s where she lived and worked for over 10 years and now resides with her husband on the coast in South Florida. In 2016, she was a finalist for the BP Portrait competition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Du Toit’s work has exhibited nationally in Texas, California, Chicago, New York, Colorado, Seattle, and Florida, among others. Internationally, her work has been shown in London and Panama City, Panama.
