Rusty Scruby: "Oaks"

(b. 1964) Rusty Scruby is a contemporary Dallas artist known for cutting and weaving paper and photographs into mathematically precise constructions. He often uses music and mathematical configurations of waves in his fabrications. Most recently, he has been creating works with a wooden cube network.

Scruby initially studied aerospace engineering in college before changing majors to music composition. Eventually, he decided to focus on art while incorporating elements of his other studies into his work. Scruby studied at Texas A&M University and The University of North Texas.

Scruby’s work may be found in the collections of The Museum of Fine Arts Houston and The Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont, as well as in the corporate collections of Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA and Capital One, Dallas, TX.
